Brilliant Orange is a book that illustrates the culture and integrity of Dutch soccer. David Winner does a great job on including many different personalities and stories about the National squad of the Netherlands as well as their very own premier league, The Eredivisie. The book ironically fails to discuss about the strategies of football. Instead, it takes on a philosophical approach of art, architecture, dance, religion, and the social movements of football. The significant focus of the book is based on “Dutch nationalism,” how their mentality and mindset of being Dutch affects how Dutch footballers attitudes and how they play. I would give this book a 4/5. For those of you that are interested in Dutch football or football. You should give this book a good read.
