|The books starts off with a hiker, Greg Mortenson, who didn't really have any goals in life. This all changed when he came across a small farming village; Korphe, which is situated at the foot of a mountain in northeastern Pakistan. During his visit, he noticed that the children there had nothing. He then vowed to build a school for them. When he left Korphe, he began his project by scarping up as much money as possible. Although he did scrape up a good sum, it wasn't enough. Later on, he is advised to ask a scientist by the name of Jean for twenty two thousand dollars. Because Jean thought it would be a remarkable achievement, he donated to money and provided Mortenson with whatever he needed. Mortenson faced a few conflicts here and there but in the end he was able to build a school for Korphe. From that point on, he strove to build schools wherever it was needed. |
This book was very enjoyable to read because it was inspiring. It reminded me that, even if you're just one person, you can make a big impact. The greatest achievements start with you. I'd recommend this book to anyone seeking the motivation to do something. Even if you're not, its still a good novel to read.
