The books starts off with a hiker, Greg Mortenson, who didn't really have any goals in life. This all changed when he came across a small farming village; Korphe, which is situated at the foot of a mountain in northeastern Pakistan. During his visit, he noticed that the children there had nothing. He then vowed to build a school for them. When he left Korphe, he began his project by scarping up as much money as possible. Although he did scrape up a good sum, it wasn't enough. Later on, he is advised to ask a scientist by the name of Jean for twenty two thousand dollars. Because Jean thought it would be a remarkable achievement, he donated to money and provided Mortenson with whatever he needed. Mortenson faced a few conflicts here and there but in the end he was able to build a school for Korphe. From that point on, he strove to build schools wherever it was needed.

This book was very enjoyable to read because it was inspiring. It reminded me that, even if you're just one person, you can make a big impact. The greatest achievements start with you. I'd recommend this book to anyone seeking the motivation to do something. Even if you're not, its still a good novel to read.
