And Still Peace Did Not Come was a "compelling journey through the horrors of the Liberian civil war and the lives of so many children who were on the front lines of this national nightmare" (Tom Crick). In this this memoir by Agnes Fallah Kamara-Umunna, stories of child soldiers, honorable women who have been raped, tortured, and abused, and the convictive consequences of the war have induced mental struggles and tears throughout the book. This book has taught reconciliation through each enriching line; It serves as the epitome of the strife between justice, innocence, reconciliation, and peace amongst the post-war Liberian society. Stories of both victims and perpetrators are told, and in some part, teaching that both could be the same. This memoir told was promising to its bittersweet end.

EXCERPT (from a Child Soldier, Muss)
"Hey people. I'm very sorry to say this. We were very small at that time. Now I'm twenty years. Oh we bother with people. Really. We bother with people. The people, they say, 'You have to sleep with women, so if you get hit by bullet you don't die from it.' But you see, people die from it... We fought the war. I don't kill people, I kill people, yeah. Told you they killed my people. They killed by father, they killed my mother, my brother. There was nowhere for me to go. So they forced me. And how can I live if I not be with them? Me, I never did any bad in the war, you know. I did not do any bad. People who were bad were going around killing people. Killing people, start eating their own friends- human beings! Well, you're not supposed to be like that....The war is over and everybody crying and praying for forgiveness. For me to say, "I took a weapon and killed my friend, you know, but I never do it intentionally."- Muss
