| My opinion is base on about half of the book--I didn't finish it all. As far as I read, this book is an absolute 5! In about the first 50 pages, Diamond discusses why he is writing a book that explains the "superiority" and "success" of the white race, and also explains why he is the man best suited to reveal how that came to be. Later, he goes into much more detail about how the environment in Eurasia (Europe and Asia) allowed the people there to have an advantage in domesticating plants and animals, as well as many other advantages that led to their development of Guns, Germs, and Steel (the reason why they were successful). This is a very, unique, insightful, book that will surprise you. Read it!
